About Me

Before you start throwing money at me.

Here is a bit more about me, my intentions, and my goals.

My dream as a filmmaker is to tell stories of real people that live out side of the mainstream. Stories of people that get over looked, discarded, or in general not seen in the the media landscape.

Whether these are stories about addicts overcoming them selves and addiction. A young artist from India that came to America and achieved truly remarkable things. Or a deep look at the rich cultural history of west Texas through the eyes of an eccentric family.

Unfortunately the stories I enjoy bringing to y’all are not the kind of stories a film studio would fund. But they are stories that I hope speak to all of us and allows us to see our own humanity in others they may not be like us.

With your help I can keep doing this work that is not only important to me, but hopefully to a lot of other people.

Thank you, and remember no one is immune from the terminal chronic condition of being human.

P.S. I have no interest in getting rich, just make a decent living telling these stories.

Open Letter on your support for Sober Stories Immediate Future

Currently my goal for 2022 is to get enough money to buy an RV in order to travel around the country doing Sober Stories. I want to do this for a few reasons.

1. My goal for this project is to tell the widest array of stories possible. From as many different people as possible.

Being based in Austin, Texas provides me with amazing human beings to interview, but there are groups of people that don’t live here. Furthermore, the United States is a big place with many different cultural regions, that all have different pressures when it comes to getting sober. I’d like to tell all those stories.

2. I come from a marketing and advertising background so i tend to thing about things in terms of advertising campaigns. Sober Stories is included in that.

The project in my mind has always been an ad campaign of sorts. That’s main function is to sell this way of life and thinking to those who need it.

The situation at hand when It comes to addiction is far to great, in my mind, to just sit back an use a method of attraction to get people help.

Too many people are dying and hurting for that way of thinking.

So, my goal is to make content that creates an appealing narrative of healing, and recovery. That can not only speak to those that are hurting, but gently allows them to buy in to it.

To me a story of a guy traveling around the country making this kind of content seems like a story people can follow, engage with and hopefully see them selves in people they may never have the opportunity to meet.

With the result of understanding they aren’t alone in their pain and suffering. Which hopefully will allow them space to get help.

With that said I feel as if I need to be brutally transparent about my thinking behind this project. So, you can fully understand what you are supporting. If this doesn’t align with your way of thinking that is completely okay! I understand that this approach isn’t for every one. It’s just how I think about things as a filmmaker.

Finally, I just want to say this, I have no interest in getting rich off this project. My only goal is to reach as many people as I possible cant. That unfortunately takes a lot of time and money. Both of which I am short on.

Thank you so much for your consideration and support.
