Macro Nature

ABOUT

This is a series I did back In 2017 messing around with my Helios 58mm lens and a bunch of stacked diopters. What draws me to these photos is how on a micro level our world can become almost indistinguishable from what we see every day. Creating images in a way that takes tiny innocuous things and make them seem grand is something that has fascinated me for a few years. You can see that in some of my commercial work. In a technical sense, I like utilizing this technique just for the challenge creating something on the smallest scale possible but making it just as dynamic as a huge expensive shot. Also, it allows you as a filmmaker to create a richer and more detailed world for an audience. Whether it is a walk in a park, following the making of an engagement ring, or having a whole world kind of life on a teacher's desk. For me at least it's pointing the camera at these things that give the work I do a different kind of life.
